“Tenable” questions, week ending 24 January 2020 (Series 4, Episodes 41-45)

Here are the questions and answers for the current series of ITV quiz show “Tenable”, episodes broadcast between Monday 20 and Friday 24 January 2020, Series 4 Episodes 41-45 (S4Ep41, S4Ep42 and so on).

Round 3: The 10 Monopoly colour set properties with 10 or fewer letters in their name [Based on the classic London Monopoly board; only letters are being counted here, not spaces between words.]

Round 4: The first 10 cities in Scotland and Wales alphabetically

Round 5 (The Captain’s Round):  The 10 Fowlers and Brannings in ‘Eastenders’ [In the “Families and Groups” section of the official “Eastenders” pages on the BBC website there are 10 people listed with the surname Fowler or Branning; some of the characters may have appeared in the soap with a different surname before marriage; as of 22 April 2019.]

Final Round: The Mediterranean: The first 10 countries on the Mediterranean Sea anti-clockwise from Morocco [The first 10 mainland countries that have borders on the Mediterranean Sea when going anti-clockwise starting from Morocco; all Mediterranean island territory is being ignored in this list; “Mediterranean Sea” means the entire body of water, including areas with alternative names such as the Aegean or Ionian Seas; as ever, “by country we mean a sovereign state that is a member of the United Nations in its own right”.]

Round 5 (The Captain’s Round): Top 10 musicians and actors aged 30 or under in the 2019 Sunday Times Rich List [Refers to the actors’ and musicians’ ages when the list was published on 12 May 2019.]

Final Round: Capital Cities: The 10 EU capital cities with six letters [The 10 EU capital cities with six letters in their name, based on the usual English spelling of the city’s name; as of May 2019.]

Round 3: The 10 women tennis players to be ranked world number 1 for the longest time [According to the Women’s Tennis Association, based on the rankings from the date of their inception in November 1975 up to the end of March 2019.]

Round 4: The 10 words of five or more letters in a police caution [The 10 different words of five or more letters given in a police caution, according to the wording in the section “Being Arrested: Your Rights” on the gov.uk website as of 17 June 2019. “To be clear, the caution is the wording after the arrest statement; for example, it would come after: ‘Warwick Davis I am arresting you on suspicion of starring in too many Hollywood blockbusters’.”]

Round 5 (The Captain’s Round): Top 10 most-watched quiz shows of 2018 [According to data from BARB, the Broadcasters’ Audience Research Board.]

Final Round: Pop Music: The first 10 words of four letters in ‘Livin’ on a Prayer’ by Bon Jovi [From the lyrics to the 1986 Bon Jovi hit, after the spoken introduction; does not include contracted words with apostrophes, so “we’ve” is not an acceptable answer.]

Round 2: Top 10 universities in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2019

Round 3: The first 10 chemical elements alphabetically that do not end with the letter ‘M’ [As of June 2019.]

Round 4: Top 10 streamed songs by Dolly Parton [The top 10 songs by Dolly Parton streamed in the UK; includes duets where another artist is credited with Dolly; according to data compiled by the Official Charts Company released in February 2019.]

Round 5 (The Captain’s Round): The first 10 one-word countries alphabetically after Bulgaria that end with the letter ‘A’ [Czechia is not acceptable here, as it’s still commonly known as Czech Republic, and nor is Burma, commonly known as Myanmar.]

Final Round: Shakespeare Characters: The 10 Shakespeare title characters whose first names have six or fewer letters [According to the plays and their titles on the “Shakespeare’s Plays” page of the Royal Shakespeare Company website rsc.org.uk.]

Round 3: The first 10 central London tube stations with ‘Park’ in their name [The first 10 stations that contain the word “Park” in Zones 1 & 2 in an alphabetical list of London tube stations; this only relates to stations on the Underground network, so no DLR, Overground or Mainline stations unless they are also served by the Underground; as of April 2019.]

Round 4: The first 10 words of four or more letters in ‘I Wanna Dance with Somebody’ by Whitney Houston [According to the lyrics on the Whitney Houston website, and only covers words from Verse 1 onwards, not words that feature in the introduction.]

Round 5 (The Captain’s Round): The 10 ingredients in red velvet cake [As listed in Marie Williams’s recipe on the BBC Good Food website; includes the ingredients for both the cake and the icing; red food colouring gel is not included as an answer as it is implied in the name of the dessert itself.]

Final Round: Old Testament: The 10 Plagues of Egypt [From the Biblical story: the Egyptian Pharaoh refuses to let the Israelites leave his lands and so God curses his kingdom with plagues until he agrees to set them free; the answers here are the 10 plagues of Egypt as listed in the King James Bible.]
