“Tenable” questions, week ending 25 October 2019 (Series 4, Episodes 6-10)

Here are the questions and answers for the current series of ITV quiz show “Tenable”, episodes broadcast between Monday 21 and Friday 25 October 2019, Series 4 Episodes 6-10 (S4Ep6, S4Ep7 and so on).

Round 4: The 10 alliterative or repetitious ABBA song titles [The 10 songs are all on the albums “ABBA Gold” or “More ABBA Gold”; to clarify, alliterative means two directly adjacent words beginning with the same letter, and repeated words means that the same word appears twice in the title; in one of the correct answers the repeated word is “the”; SOS is not included in this list as the title contains letters, not words.]

Round 5 (The Captain’s Round): The 10 golfers who have won the most majors since 1950 [Male golfers who won their first championship since 1950, the list contains those who have won the most majors up to and including April 2019 .]

Final Round: European Geography: The 10 countries of the River Danube [The 10 countries that the River Danube flows through or that have the River Danube as part of their international border.]

Final Round: Celebrities: The first 10 children of the Kardashian-Jenners [This is about the offspring of Kourtney, Kim, Khloe and Rob Kardashian, and Kendall and Kylie Jenner; this list consists of the first names of the first 10 children to be born.]

Round 2: The 10 female Oscar-nominated directors and their films [A list of the five female directors who have been nominated in the Best Director category, and the five films they were nominated for, up to and including the 2019 Oscars ceremony.]

Round 3: The first 10 Mr Men characters alphabetically that end with the letter ‘Y’ [Based on the characters created by Roger and Adam Hargreaves, as listed on the Characters page of the official website mrmen.com, as of 11 June 2019.]

Round 4: The first 10 Top 10 singles by Robbie Williams [According to the Official Charts Company as of June 2019; in the case of double A-sided singles, either song can be accepted as an answer, but not both.]

Round 5 (The Captain’s Round): The 10 tennis players with the most Grand Slam men’s singles titles in the ‘Open’ era [This list goes up to the Australian Open in 2019.]

Final Round: Traditional Songs: The first 10 words of four or more letters in ‘Auld Lang Syne’ by Robert Burns [Does not include the words “Auld”, “Lang” or “Syne”, or words that appear with apostrophes, such as “we’ll”; according to the Christmas Encyclopaedia published by McFarland.]

Final Round: Animated Films: Top 10 characters in ‘The Lion King’ animation [The first 10 different characters named in the end credits of the 1994 Disney animated feature as it was originally released on home video.]

Friday 25 October 2019 [s4ep10, repeated on Saturday 28 March 2020, Friday 3 April 2020 and Thursday 20 May 2022]

Round 1: The 10 characters in the animation ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ [The 10 characters which take human form other than the title character Snow White in the 1937 Disney animation; the Magic Mirror and the birds are not acceptable answers as they do not take human form.]

Round 2: The 10 South American or European countries apart from the UK who have hosted the FIFA World Cup Finals [One of these countries has hosted the competition twice, with slightly different names; either name will be an acceptable answer; this list does not include Russia as it lies partly in Asia.]

Round 3: The last 10 US presidents with double letters in their names [The last 10 US presidents with at least one set of double letters in their first name or surname, according to the names they were known by when they were president.]

Round 4: Top 10 lagers in pubs [The top 10 best-selling lagers sold in UK pubs, according to the pub trade paper The Morning Advertiser’s “The Drinks List: Top Brands to Stock 2019”,, with data provided by CGA, looking at a 12-month period up to 11 August 2018.]

Round 5 (The Captain’s Round): The first 10 six-letter words ending with the letters ‘TCH’ [According to Chambers 21st Century Dictionary on Chambers.co.uk; does not include hyphenated words, words with apostrophes or any word that the dictionary spells with an initial capital letter; as of 13 June 2019.]

Final Round: UK Geography: The 10 English ceremonial counties with North Sea coasts [The ceremonial counties are those laid out by the Lieutenancies Act 1997.]

All 5 members of A Few Good Women made it to the final and won 3k by listing the first 10 children of the Kardashian-Jenners.

Wednesday 23 October 2019, Nothing’s Donna Stop Us Now

All 5 members of Nothing’s Donna Stop Us Now made it to the final, playing for 12k, and named 8 of the first 10 words of four or more letters in ‘Auld Lang Syne’ by Robert Burns. [The remaining answers: Surely, Your.]

Thursday 24 October 2019, Tyne and Dandy

Friday 25 October 2019, The Amazeballs

All 5 members of The Amazeballs made it to the final and won 8k by naming all 10 English ceremonial counties with North Sea coasts. [And I was delighted: this is my favourite “Tenable” team ever.]
