“Tenable” questions, week ending 18 October 2019 (Series 4, Episodes 1-5)

A new series of ITV quiz show “Tenable” began this week, on Monday 14 October. Here are the questions and answers for the episodes broadcast up to Friday 18 October 2019, Series 4 Episodes 1-5 (S4Ep1, S4Ep2 and so on).

The format here is the same as in earlier pieces such as this one from Series 3: a list of the “Tenable” challenges, a note on how the teams fared, and then the answers.

Round 4: The last 10 six-letter words ending in the letters ‘ION’ [The last 10 words alphabetically containing exactly six letters and ending in ION; according to Chambers 21st Century Dictionary on Chambers.co.uk; each word has its own entry; does not include hyphenated words, words with apostrophes or any word that the dictionary spells with an initial capital letter; as of 22 May 2019.]

Round 5 (The Captain’s Round): The 10 Monopoly spaces nearest Go [The five spaces that immediately precede Go and the five spaces that follow it; includes properties that players can buy as well as spaces that cannot be purchased.]

Final Round: Airports: The 10 major UK airports closest to Big Ben [“Only airports with over half a million terminal passengers in 2018 appear on the Tenable Tower”.]

Round 3: The first 10 NFL American football teams alphabetically [Each team name consists of a location and another term; this list is alphabetical by location, as of May 2019.]

Round 4: The first 10 chemical element symbols that are two-letter words [The chemical element symbols all consist of two letters, and those two letters in that order form two-letter words which are recognizable words in English; they all appear in Chambers 21st Century Dictionary on Chambers.co.uk, and have their own separate entries; as of May 2019.]

Round 2: Top 10 Beyoncé singles [The 10 biggest selling Beyoncé hits in the UK according to a list published by the Official Chart Company in March 2018; collaborations with other artists are acceptable, as long as Beyoncé is a named artist.]

Round 3: The 10 numbers between 20 and 19 on a dartboard [The 10 numbers that appear between 20 and 19 when heading clockwise on a standard dartboard, as used at the PDC World Darts Championship in 2019.]

Round 4: Top 10 actors in ‘Skyfall’ [The first 10 actors credited in the 2012 James Bond film ‘Skyfall’ as listed on IMDb, as of May 2019.]

Round 5 (The Captain’s Round): The 10 UK cities with five or fewer letters in their name [Hull is not included here, as its official name is Kingston-upon-Hull; nor is Derry / Londonderry.]

Final Round: Prime Ministers: The first 10 prime ministers of Elizabeth II [The first 10 prime ministers since the accession of Elizabeth II on 6 February 1952; the list includes the person who was prime minister when she acceded to the throne.]

All 5 members of Dunstable and Dusted made it to the final, playing for 5.5k, and named 9 of the 10 major UK airports closest to Big Ben. [The remaining answer: Norwich.]

Tuesday 15 October 2019, As Good As Gold

4 of As Good As Gold made it to the final and won 8.5k by listing the Top 10 football teams with a bird on their badge.

Wednesday 16 October 2019, Shut that Troubadour

All 5 members of Shut that Troubadour made it to the final, playing for 18.5k, and named 8 of the 10 countries nearest Germany. [The remaining answers: Czechia (new name for Czech Republic), Liechtenstein.]

Thursday 17 October 2019, The Ecky Thumpers

All 5 of the Ecky Thumpers made it to the final round, playing for 12k and named 9 of the 10 English cities between Chichester and Leicester alphabetically. [The remaining answer: Hereford.]

Friday 18 October 2019, Life’s a Wisbech

4 members of Life’s a Wisbech made it to the final and won 11k by naming the first 10 prime ministers of Elizabeth II.
