Here are the questions and answers for the current series of ITV quiz show “Tenable”, episodes broadcast between Monday 27 and Friday 31 January 2020, Series 4 Episodes 46-50 (S4Ep46, S4Ep50 and so on).

The format here is the same as in earlier pieces such as this one from last week: a list of the “Tenable” challenges, a note on how the teams fared, and then the answers.

Round 2: The first 10 main characters named in ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’ [“Main characters” means the characters that are first to be named more than once in relation to the action, so this list does not include Dedalus Diggle, Madam Pomfrey or Sirius Black who are each mentioned once in passing in the opening chapters, nor does it include Jim and Ted who appeared on “The Muggle News”; Harry Potter is not an acceptable answer, as he appears in the question; all the character names in this list appear at least twice within Chapter 1 or 2 of the book.]

Round 3: Top 10 theme parks in the UK [According to themparksuk.com; “theme park” means a large permanent area for public entertainment, with activities and rides, sometimes all connected with a single theme.]

Round 4: The last 10 UK Top 10 Katy Perry hits [According to the Official Charts Company, as of 25 June 2019; any single on which Katy Perry is a main or featured artist.]

Round 5 (The Captain’s Round):  The first 10 US states with 8 letters [In an alphabetical list of the usual short-form names of the US states, the first 10 that contain exactly 8 letters.]

Final Round: Football: Top 10 United teams in the English football league 2018/19 season [These teams were in the Premier League, EFL Championship or League One, the top three leagues in the men’s professional game, during the 2018/19 season, and all have the word United as part of tehir name.]

Round 1: The first 10 six-letter words that end with the letters ‘DGE’ [According to Chambers 21st Century Dictionary on Chambers.co.uk; the acceptable answers all have their own entry and are in blue on the website; does not include hyphenated words, words with apostrophes or any word that the dictionary spells with an initial capital letter; as of 23 May 2019.]

Round 2: The last 10 UK Top 10 Girls Aloud singles [According to the Official Charts Company, as of May 2019.]

Round 3: The last 10 England football players to score a hat-trick [Up to 22 March 2019; “hat-trick” here means 3 or more goals scored during an international match, including extra-time; penalties scored during the game count towards a hat-trick, but penalties scored during a penalty shoot-out do not; this question relates to the men’s senior England football team.]

Round 4: The first 10 characters alphabetically on the ‘Avengers: Endgame’ poster [There are 13 characters depicted on the poster for this 2019 superhero film, which was used to promote the film in the UK; this list contains the first 10 names alphabetically; where a character has more than one name, only their superhero name is included.]

Round 5 (The Captain’s Round): The last 10 presidents of France [As of May 2019; does not include Alain Poher, who was an interim president in 1969 and again in 1974.]

Final Round: Capital Cities: The 10 largest capital cities in South America [The 10 capital cities in South America with the largest populations; where a country has more than one capital city, the administrative capital is counted here; based on 2018 estimates from the CIA World Fact Book as of March 2019.]

Round 4: Top 10 highest-grossing Bruce Willis films of the 1990s [The 10 highest-grossing films at cinemas worldwide for which Bruce Willis has an acting credit, which were released in the 1990s; based on lifetime data provided by Box Office Mojo as of 20 March 2019; these films all had an initial US release between 1990 and 1999 inclusive.]

Round 5 (The Captain’s Round): The 10 golf courses on the rota for the Open Championship [As of May 2019.]

Final Round: UK Cities: The 10 UK cities closest to Edinburgh [As the crow flies; the centre of each city is taken to be where the pin appeared when the city name was searched on Google Maps; the distance along a straight line between the Edinburgh pin and the pins for the other cities was calculated in miles; as of 16 May 2019.]

Round 1: The first 10 UK National Parks [The first 10 parks to be designated in the UK.]

Round 2: Top 10 characters in the musical ‘Les Miserables’ [according to StageAgent.com, as of 9 April 2019.]

Round 3: The 10 French and German words for weekdays [The 10 French and German words for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.]

Round 4: Top 10 Prince singles [The 10 best-selling UK singles released by Prince, according to figures compiled by the Official Charts Company in 2018; includes singles credited to Prince as a solo artist, and alongside a backing band; in the case of double A sides each side is a single answer.]

Round 5 (The Captain’s Round): The 10 fruits in Robinson’s Fruit Squash range [The 10 different fruits named in the ingredients of the Robinson’s Family Favourites range of fruit squash; they are named as “from concentrate” or “juice from concentrate”; these are drinks listed on the Robinson’s Squash website, as of March  2019.]

4 members of The RG Bhajis made it to the final round and won 3.5k by naming the 10 largest capital cities in South America.

Wednesday 29 January 2020, Dundeel

2 members of Dundeel made it to the final round playing for 2.5k and named 9 of the 10 UK cities closest to Edinburgh. [The remaining answer: Durham.]

Thursday 30 January 2020, Cop a Load of Us

All 5 of Cop a Load of Us made it to the final round playing for 5.5k and named 7 of the 10 surnames of US presidents between Hoover and Pierce alphabetically. [The remaining answers: Madison, McKinley, Monroe.]

Friday 31 January 2020, The Leading Ladies

4 of the Leading Ladies made it to the final round and won 31k by naming the 10 US states alphabetically between Connecticut and Louisiana.
