Things have been rather quiet on this Blog in recent months. It happens from time to time. I aim to have no more than a five-day gap between each post. I fell behind this target earlier in the year. In May I “back-filled” several months’ worth of pieces, going back to 2022 and explained the process in this piece, “Here we go again (Covid Round 2), and diaries”.
I was up-to-date on Sunday 21 May but only posted one item in June (about the TV show “Tenable”) and another in July (about sport). August is currently blank, but in the weeks ahead I hope to fill in all the gaps with the usual stuff (Memories, Trivia and Notes from West London) and, most of all, Music. Throughout the summer I was on a mission to hear, and play, live music as often as possible. This took me all over London, to many venues I had never visited, and took up most of my evenings from 17 July onwards. My son accompanied me on many of these evenings. He would have been unable to do this a year ago, but he turned 18 last November and is legally allowed into pubs and late-night music venues. He has been “ID’d” a few times, but we always have his passport with us. And, unlike a year ago, all of my journeys to and from music venues by public transport have been free.
Although we are a week into September already it still feels like summer. Temperatures have been in the 30s this week (or the 90s, if you prefer Fahrenheit). This should make it easier to recall exactly what was on my mind this summer as I finalize the 20+ pieces that will get this Blog back to its usual state.
